Just a quick reminder for everyone to take a look once in a while below your sink! If you see small white spots like the one in the above picture it is about time for a new disposal, this corrosion is caused by the blades and debris wearing the walls thin in the grinding chamber allowing moisture to begin to seep through the walls. Once this becomes visible it can become an active leak quickly!
When replacing a disposal I always choose a replacement with Stainless Steel internal grinding components, I have personally looked inside thousands of disposals and I have seen 1 year old disposals that have rusted to the point of being “frozen” and on the opposite end, the stainless units look brand new and operate perfectly 10 plus years down the road.
Hope this little bit of advice helps! As always, please feel free to comment, or contact me with any questions you may have!
